Belgian Football Launches Advanced AR Broadcasting
Belgium’s premier football competition is preparing for a significant transformation as a new suite of augmented reality tools is set to redefine how matches will be presented during the 2025/2026 Jupiler Pro League season. The initiative comes through a continued collaboration between the Belgian Pro League, DAZN Belgium, and wTVision, which has developed a new generation of broadcast graphics designed to strengthen viewer engagement and analytical depth.
The upgrade centres on the integration of wTVision’s in-house augmented reality system, AR³, which will operate directly within the company’s established broadcast environment. The system is positioned as one of the most sophisticated deployments of real-time augmented reality technology seen in Belgian football. Its introduction marks a deliberate effort to enhance the clarity, accessibility, and storytelling potential of live match coverage.
Throughout the season, scheduled from July 2025 to May 2026, audiences will encounter a broadened range of visual tools woven into the live broadcast. These elements will include tactical breakdowns, player performance indicators, spatial measurements, and interactive pitch-level visuals that appear to sit naturally within the physical environment. Each component has been engineered to deliver instantaneous insights while maintaining visual coherence with the match action.
wTVision’s approach relies on the combination of several internal systems designed to work seamlessly together. FootbalCG will continue to handle real-time data management and processing, ensuring accuracy from the moment information is received. The R³ Render Engine will generate the graphical elements with an emphasis on precision and responsiveness, while AR³ will place those elements into the live environment, merging spatial data with storytelling in real time. This framework supports multiple language outputs and integrates data streams from external providers, including Sportian Performance, to maintain consistent synchronisation with on-field events.
The company will maintain full responsibility for the graphics ecosystem throughout the season. An on-site operational model, backed by centralised technical infrastructure, will provide editorial oversight, workflow coordination, and system reliability. This setup is designed to ensure a uniform visual identity and dependable delivery across every broadcast, regardless of match location or production conditions.
In previous seasons, wTVision created the league’s on-air visual identity, shaping a modern and distinctive look that emphasised clarity and dynamism. That design ethos continues to influence the new system, which expands on the existing aesthetic with data-rich elements intended to suit contemporary viewer expectations. The updated graphics aim to offer a more intuitive understanding of match developments, while the AR components add depth that traditional overlays could not achieve.
The 2025/2026 rollout represents a strategic evolution in Belgian football coverage. Broadcasters expect that the new visuals will strengthen the connection between the audience and the live match narrative by providing information in a way that feels immediate and contextually relevant.
